Acquiring the ability to make connections between seemingly unrelated topics. Identifying the problematics of the creative fairy tale today. Relating the knowledge and insight acquired to critical and creative interpretations.
授業概要
This course focuses on both well-known and little-known creative fairy tales by male and female writers from the 19th and 20th centuries. We will attend to some key issues such as representations of women and the supernatural. The aim is to stimulate students to read afresh, honing their skills in close reading and in contextualising historical and cross-cultural constructions of fairy tales. Students will be encouraged to engage imaginatively with the works, and to try out their own projects.
