授業概要
This course focuses on some well-known works by Shakespeare, particularly the early comedies and tragedies and late romances, by attending to some key issues such as representations of women and the supernatural. The aim is to stimulate students to read afresh, honing their skills in close reading, in visual literacy and in contextualising historical and cross-cultural constructions of Shakespeare. Both classic and emergent adaptations in performance, film and art will be discussed. Students will have the opportunity to engage in creative work, such as translations of new Asian Shakespeares.
