By the completion of the course, students will be able to: 1. Read and comprehend texts written in English and critically evaluate them. 2. Write a well-organized and logically-developed paragraph in English. 3. Voice opinions on both familiar topics and various social issues in English. 4. Listen and comprehend English delivered in natural speed.
授業概要
This is a required course for all first-year students designed to help them improve the four basic skills in English: speaking, listening, writing, and reading. Along with the language skills, the course also aims to help students develop critical thinking skills that are necessary for them to pursue academic studies. Students are divided into approximately thirty per class according to the levels. Class is conducted in English. Self-study at the Multimedia Center for Active Learning (MCAL) is also obligatory.

In class, students will do all their activities in English. They are expected to actively participate in class discussions and communicate with their classmates in English.
評価方法
Assignments are regularly given. Evaluation is based on attendance, classwork, quizzes, mid-term and final examinations, MCAL attendance, and the General Test, which is given in the second semester to check students' progress.
