By the completion of the course, students will be able to: 1. Create an outline for their thesis. 2. Write a literature review of the selected topic. 3. Design a research/survey/experiment. 4. Collect phonetic data for the research/survey/experiment.
授業概要
This course is designed for students who will write their graduation theses on various topics from the area of phonetics and phonology. We will read a number of articles related to the topics that students have selected. The topics in the first semester include intonation, phonological acquisition, and accents of English. All students are required to critically review the articles and actively participate in class discussions. Throughout the course, students will be introduced to techniques for creating an outline, writing an effective literature review, and collecting data for academic papers.
