By the completion of the course, students will be able to: 1. Describe the suprasegmental features of English. 2. Describe connected speech phenomena of English. 3. Understand the characteristics of native and non-native varieties of English. 4. Collect and analyze phonetic data to be used in presentations.
授業概要
This course is the continuation of 3年英語学演習2-1. As in the first semester, students are required to critically read articles and actively participate in class discussions. The topics in the second semester will be intonation, connected speech phenomena, and accents of English, including both native and non-native varieties. Toward the end of the semester, students will be asked to select their own topic and conduct a small-scale research by collecting phonetic data from different sources in order to support their arguments.
