学習目標
We will read works by John Barth and Vladimir Nabokov, writers of the so-called Literature of Exhaustion, and attempt to define their contributions to the postmodern novel. Emphasis will be on John Barth in the first semester.
授業概要
Lectures will be followed by presentations of each student and discussions in each class. Each student will choose a novel by Barth other than the designated texts and give a presentation on its metafictional and other postmodernist elements. A paper will be required at the end of the course.

The class will be conducted mostly in English. Active participation in discussions is encouraged.
