This course attempts to study Marlowe's works in the context of his times. Much recent scholarship has elucidated Marlowe's role as secret service agent, and it is part of our aim to follow the story of his life in order to understand the intertextualities between his life and works. The dynamic relationship between Marlowe and his contemporaries, particularly Shakespeare, Lyly, Kyd and Jonson, will be examined through a critical reading of the works.
