In this course, we will read Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare, with special focus on dramatic conventions and their effects. How does Shakespeare use dramatic techniques such as cross-dressing, eavesdropping and music to create a comedy of love and mistaken identities? We will read and enjoy the play in depth while also paying attention to other Shakespearean works and to recent film versions.
