The most recent ecopolitical insights can inform our critical readings of literature. The latest developments in science and philosophy return us to the fundamental problems of human existence regarding our relations with one another, and with nature and the animals. We will read and discuss scenes from Shakespeare's plays, Alice in Wonderland, The Tale of Peter Rabbit and other books for children according to our awareness of ecocriticism. This course will also instruct the student in basic research methods such as note-taking during lectures, preparing a summary, using the library, preparing a presentation, and writing a short paper.
